New Honda City Sedan – Top 5 Changes

The long-awaited
new generation Honda City has recently been introduced in Thailand. The new
model is scheduled to be launched in our market in the first half of 2020. It
comes with significant design changes, all-new interior and a new set of engine
options. Here is a list of top 5 changes you will see in the next generation
Honda City sedan –

All-new Design

The styling of the
new City is heavily inspired by bigger Honda sedans including the Civic and the
Insight sedan. The front looks like Civic, thanks the signature chromed grille,
sleeker wraparound headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights,
conventional bumper with newly designed fog lamps and sculpted bonnet. The rear
looks rather conventional and is inspired by the Insight sedan. It gets stylish
wraparound LED tail-lamps, matured tailgate and flat bumper with vertical
reflectors on both ends. The side profile looks evolved, thanks to strong
beltline that runs across the length and a new set of new diamond cut alloy
wheels.

Black Interior

The new Honda City
comes with all-black interior scheme; however, the India-spec model could get
dual-tone (black+beige) theme. It gets a conventional looking dashboard with
brushed aluminium and piano black trims, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment
system with Honda Connect, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic AC, push
button start and multi-functional steering wheel. Instead of touch-type buttons
for AC and other functions, the new City gets conventional knob type buttons.

New Turbocharged Engine

The new Honda City
gets a new 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that powers the
global Civic hatchback. This engine is capable of producing 122bhp of power and
173Nm of torque. It is paired to a CVT automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.
Honda could bring this engine in India; however, nothing official has been
revealed.

Bigger Dimensions

In terms of
proportions, the new City is 4,533mm in length, 1,748mm in width and 1,467mm in
height. The new model is 100mm longer, 53mm wider and 28mm shorter than the
outgoing model. The wheelbase has been reduced by 11mm. The increase in length
and width should free up more space inside the cabin for the rear occupants.

1.5L Mild Hybrid Petrol Engine

The new Honda City
also gets the regular 1.5-litre i-VTEC 4-cylinder petrol engine, which is now
paired with i-MMD mild-hybrid system. This hybrid system has recently been
introduced in the new Jazz hatchback. It is likely to arrive in our market by
the end of 2020 or early 2021.
