It's Time To Change Education Policies In India

What India needs
is not only the Right to Education (RTE), but Right to Quality Education (RTQE).

More than 260 million (or 26 crore) students attend school in India daily. There are 1.5 million schools in India, with over a million run by the government. No Indian university features in the top 100 QS rankings.

The problem is that the private sectors’ hands are tied.

Education in India is highly regulated. And regulation is leading to a situation where great educators are being forced to become implementors of educational policies rather than teach freely.

Unless we empower educators, we’ll miss the bus like we did centuries ago.

We need to allow deeper understanding of topics and should encourage students to research and come up with their own perspective.

In short,
we need to eliminate rigidity and introduce fluidity in the Indian education system.

As you start the weekend,
do think about this: What if you were taught the subjects you liked at school level? And were allowed to study them at your own pace rather than being forced to study a vast syllabus in a short period of time?
